Helping authors turn early drafts into compelling narratives, built on strong characters and story craft.

Manuscript Critique

A manuscript critique, also known as a manuscript appraisal, or evaluation looks at the foundations of your novel covering big picture storytelling elements such as:

  • Premise
  • Story
  • Plot
  • Characterisation
  • Structure
  • Tension
  • Theme
  • Genre
  • POV (point of view)
  • Show vs tell
  • Worldbuilding and setting
  • Voice
  • Pacing

Feedback comes solely as a 10-20 page editorial report – with craft-based suggestions to help strengthen your work – offered as guidance, not rules.

This might a be good option if you are a writer who:

  • Has more experience and a better grasp of the craft of writing
  • Wants a broader overview rather than in-depth feedback
  • Is perhaps on a tighter budget or prefers implementing feedback yourself.

A manuscript critique will usually take between 3-4 weeks depending on the length and complexity of the manuscript.
