PRIVACY
Your privacy and the security of your data is very important to me and I take steps to protect every piece of information or data that I receive.
I am in compliance with the EU GDPR. As a sole proprietor I act as both Data Controller and Data Processor for my business.
The data I collect as part of my business includes full names and contact details (including email addresses, telephone numbers and postal addresses) of my clients (the Data subjects) and information pertinent to your enquiry (e.g. nature of the project, word count).
I do not collect sensitive personal data such as ethnic origin or religious beliefs.
I do not share any data with a third party without the Data subject’s written permission.
I keep contact information for 6 years solely for tax purposes.
I will keep all manuscripts, emails, texts, samples, etc that a client submits to me totally confidential, and will not share these with any third party without their written consent.
Any manuscript which forms part of a job I undertake for any client will be deleted at the end of the job unless the client specifically asks me in writing to keep a copy.
Data, such as manuscripts that is transmitted to me is stored on my computer. It is backed up online, in an encrypted form using Carbonite. My software is kept up to date with manufacturer’s updates and I have professional anti-virus and anti-malware installed.
I recommend that all documents being transferred be password protected. This reduces the chance of the document being altered by a third party. Passwords should be shared using a separate email or by telephone.
Nevertheless, I cannot be held liable for losses or theft of documents during transmission.
This policy is kept under continuous review and will be modified from time to time in the light of changing circumstances or new legislation.
